Traditionally, a HD show runner oversees all aspects of a production including making certain that the production is professionally executed by a qualified high definition crew, delivered on time and under budget. An HD show runner could also be referred to as an executive producer or a HD series producer, in the event a series is produced rather than a one-off. Our show runners have credits for ABC, Discovery Communications, History Channel and HBO.
Producer: A producer can mean various things. At its core, a producer of a high definition production is usually someone who facilitates actualization of the production. In other words, a HD producer would is responsible in part for keeping the HD production company / crew on course, and reports directly to the Show Runner / HD series producer.
Technical Producer: In the age of digital / HD cameras and digital workflow, it is important to have a producer who can hire and communicate with the high definition crew. The technical producer is responsible for ensuring proper HD workflow and identifying the proper equipment and personnel to execute the production. This position usually hires video engineers and/or digital imaging technicians,
Line Producer: The line producer is responsible for keeping the HD production company on target for all line items associated with a budget. Variations in the budget are discussed either with the Producer or Executive Producer.
Production Coordinator: The production coordinator is tasked with making certain all high definition crew, personnel and conractor know where to be an when to be there.
Associate Producer: An associate producer for an high definition production company assists the producer in his/her responsibilities. By definition, the associate producer works closely with, and reports to, the producer.
Director: The director works with and oversees all high definition crew and works closely with the actors to ensure that their performances are sound and compliment the aesthetic.
First Assistant Director: The assistant director assists the director – wrangling performers and HD crew. Within a given day the first AS keeps all aspects of a HD production on time, focused and on task.

Additional information relating to the operation of each specific camera can be found on these pages.
High Definition Cameraman: A high definition cameraman / HD camera operator is a man or woman, who actually physically operates an HD camera like a Sony hdw-f900, Red One, Panasonic HDX900, etc. The cameraman is responsible for the pans, tilts, zooms etc -- in essence capturing what the Director of Photography intended.
One of the owner of Saturnalia Productions is an HD cameraman, an certiified digital imaging technician / video engineer and has operated a variety of HD cameras since 1999. He has shot and teched thousands of hours of broadcast television around the world. Simply contact us to speak to him about your HD production.
In addition to camera operator services, Saturnalia Productions can aslo handle your camera rental needs:
You may, of course, choose to rent a camera from Saturnalia Productions and hire an independent cameraman. However, there are technical and cost advantages to hiring our pesonnel. These advantages, and additional information concerning the operation of a specific camera, can be found by clicking a link above.
Assistant Cameraman: The assistant cameraman helps the HD cameraman with whatever tasks he or she may need during the course of an HD production. These responsibilities can include focus pulling, moving the tripod, moving the camera, switching filtration, etc.
Gaffer: The gaffer works closely with the HD Director of Photography to decide on, and implement, the lighting scheme associated with a scene.
Grip: On an HD production, grip(s) are sometimes hired to move, rig and implement the lighting scheme of the gaffer and/or director of photography.
Digital Imaging Technician: The D.I.T. / video engineer is responsible for the well being and scene files/look of a digital / HD camera. Since cameras, like the Sony f900 camera, are essentially computers with a HD lens attached, it is important to have someone on the set of a high definition production, who understands every nuance and electronic circuit of the HD camera. For example, in a Sony f900 camera, the digital imaging technician can manipulate the camera menus not only to make certain that the HD camera is capturing images properly, but that it is recording the images with a specific color-corrected look. The digital imaging technician works closely with the HD director of photography in order to decide on the look being captured to tape or data. On smaller productions, the D.I.T. can also double as an assistant cameraman or even an HD camera operator. One of the owners of Saturnalia Productions has been a video engineer / digital imaging technician / HD cameraman in Los Angeles for over a decade. Simply contact Saturnalia Productions to speak with him about your production.
Media manager: The media manager / data wrangler has become the term associated with the person responsible for Red Camera media / data on set.
Soundman: The soundman, or sound person, is pretty self-descriptive. It is the person on a high definition crew who is responsible for recording sound. Sometimes, on smaller HD productions, this person may double as the boom operator as well.
Make-up Artist: The make-up artist handles all make-up and touch-ups during the course of production. Sometimes they will also do hair, but this violates union rules, if indeed the production in union.
Production Assistant: An HD production company should hire several production assistants to flesh-out their high definition crew. The position is relatively inexpensive and will prevent key personnel from performing menial jobs and being distracted from their true responsibilities.
