Our services are a la carte, so you may choose to solely hire a Panasonic AG-3DP1 camera operator, rent the AG-3DP1 camera in Los Angeles or abroad, or take advantage of both services and rest assured that you have personnel who know every nuance and menu of these 3D Panasonic camcorders.

The Panasonic AG-3DP1 camera, like its predecessor the Panasonic 3DA1, makes 3D affordable and makes field production of 3D easier. Separated cameras assembled in 3D rigs have the inherant problem of manually adjusting interocular angle each time the focal length is changed. The Panasonic AG-3DP1 and the 3DA1 have two cameras, lens and recording capabilities built into one unit. This enables these cameras to automatically change the interocular angle when the camera operator zooms / changes focal length. A conscientious cameraman can zoom, reframe, focus and converge quickly making ENG shoots a possibility.

Panasonic 3DP1 rental has the added benefit of a more affordable rental rate then larger 3D rigs, which, as mentioned, require complicated assembly.

Our AG-3DP1 cameramen / video engineers have worked for Lucasfilm, CBS, NBC, WB, MTV, Discovery Networks, G4, Sony, Disney, NHK, BBC, Sky 3D, Direct TV, Channel 4 (England) and countless independent production companies.

Although we are based in Los Angeles, we travel the world for production.

As mentioned above, our services are a la carte meaning you can choose to use one, some or all of our services. You can rent two 3DP1 camcorders and nothing else. You can hire a Panasonic 3DP1 DP/cameraman and two other cameramen, from Saturnalia Productions, and get your 3DP1 cameras elsewhere if you wish. Any combination of services is possible. However, there are several advantages of hiring Saturnalia Productions to fill your Panasonic 3D Director of Photography, cameraman, and/or video engineer positions. These advantages include:

• A Panasonic 3DP1 camera rental house, in Los Angeles or elsewhere, cannot extend a bundled discount to you for renting both a camera and hiring a cameraman.


• Depending on the logistics of your particular production, i.e. if there are a small number of cameras, our Panasonic 3DP1 cameraman may also serve as your video engineer saving you the expense of having to house, feed and pay two people.


• Since our personnel include video engineers, camera operators and/or Director of Photography, we prep the Panasonic AG-3DP1 camera prior to its rental; The cost of a prep day in most cases is avoided as long as the prep is not extensive. Costs associated with pick-up and return of gear is also avoided. We show up to your location with the 3DP1 package, shoot and, of course, return with all the gear.


• You can rest assured that the Panasonic AG-3DP1 cameraman and/or video engineer from Saturnalia Productions is extremely familiar with the Panasonic 3DP1 camcorder. This experience is invaluable and can be the difference between a successful production and a technical nightmare.

If you are producing a low-budget documentary or ENG shoot, our Panasonic 3DP1 camera operator / Panasonic 3DP1 Director of Photography can also double as a gaffer and/or soundman. Of course, the production's physical dynamic has to allow for this possibility, but our in-house DP/cameraman for example has worn these multiple hats on over 100 shoots including dozens of celebrity interviews - Tom Hanks, Viggo Mortensen, Sharon Stone, Ed Harris, Sally Field, etc.

Ideally, our camera operator(s) perefer to wear a single hat, but we are happy to help a producer in need. On well-financed, larger productions our start-to-finish knowledge allows us to communicate with all crew extremely efficiently and avoid pitfalls in production which will cost a producer time and money.
